Chaweng is the longest beach and biggest town on Samui. There are dozens of hotels and bungalows along its fine white-sand beach. You can find anything from 5-star luxury Hotels to the handful of budget bungalows that remain from Samui’s days as a backpackers’s haven.
There are a lot of restaurants, shops, small market stalls and the pulsating nightlife with some discos and clubs catering for every whish of the tourist

Lamai Beach Koh Samui

Lamai is Samui’s second largest beach and some believe also its most beautiful. The water is excellent for swimming. The southern end of the bay boasts elegant granite boulders and the beach itself seems endless. Nightlife in Lamai tends to be slightly seedier than in Chaweng. There are also some excellent restaurants and bars scattered along the strip. Accommodations options range from high class resorts to basic bungalows.

Bophut stands out as the only village on Samui with authentic island charm. It consists of a single street lined with traditional Chinese shophouses, many of which have been converted into restaurants, shops and guesthouses. This is a great spot for a romantic beachside dinner and both the cuisine and the architecture lend a distinctly Mediterranean feel to the village.

Maenam Beach Koh Samui

Accommodation along Maenam’s long sedate beach ranges from cheap bungalows to top end resorts. The beach itself is a huge horseshoe of soft sand with spectacular views over to the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan. The main town itself is a relatively charmless hotch potch of modern shophouses, cheap restaurants and convenience stores, though it is slowly improving in quality and the food choises on offer are increasingly cosmopolitan.

Big Buddha's long sweeping beach is lined with cheap to mid-price bungalow operations, many of which have excellent restaurants attached. Out on a causeway at the northern end of the beach, Wat Phra Yai houses the statue that gives the beach its name and is the island's most popular tourist attraction. The main road has improved a lot in recent months and now has several dive shops, numerous supermarkets and many nightlife options.

Lipa Noi Beach Koh Samui

Lipa Noi Beach is also one of the best locations on the island from which to catch a beautiful sunset. Especially on the weekends, the shallow waters and white sands attract many local families and children. During the week though, it's usually much quieter. A few bungalows and a restaurant can be found close to the beach. There's not much in the way of entertainment in the area but driving through the coconut plantations will provide you with a pleasant and relaxing sense of being in tropical paradise.
